Join E&M!

We like Europe. We like each other. And we’d like you to join us on our quest to redefine young European journalism.

E&M began producing transnational journalism written by young Europeans for young Europeans back in 2008. Since then we've come a long way. We've published 26 regular editions of our online magazine, won a Charlemagne Youth Prize, held a continent-wide Young Journalist Award, launched a blog and organised a series of projects, ranging from debates and journalism workshops. We want to build on this, but for that we will need reinforcements: more writers to add to our list of over 100 contributors from every corner Europe, plus at least one more editor to help steer the E&M ship.

You don't necessarily need to have any journalistic experience to apply to work with E&M (although it's great if you do, of course). We're more interested in your passion for Europe and the ideas you have about contributing to a personal, transnational dialogue between young people across the continent.

If you join E&M as an author, we'll expect you to contribute at least two stories per year to any section of E&M. In return you'll be published on a website with thousands of readers and Facebook followers, with the freedom to pursue your own journalistic interests. We will give you editorial support, offer you the opportunity to collaborate with writers from every corner of Europe and keep you up to date with competitions, workshops and other transnational journalistic events.

Editing is more of a commitment. You'll take full charge of a section of the magazine (Brain, Heart, Diaphragm, Baby or Legs); commission and edit five stories for each new edition; attend editorial meetings and help out with projects. You'll be part of a dedicated team keen to gain experience running an international magazine and lots of opportunities to develop your own journalistic ideas and skills. Working on our projects, previous editors have debated with foreign ministers, run journalism workshops and debates, even written for international newspapers.

Interested? You ought to be. To apply, just click here and fill in the form. You'll need to prove your proficiency in English and, if you're applying as a writer, provide a couple of samples of your work. If you want a little more information first, feel free to send us an email: application [at] europeandme.eu.

Don't wait! Apply now!

Editorial

If the Editorial team had an actual office it would have to stretch from the corner of Britain to the edges of Spain, Sweden, Germany and beyond. (With frequent trips to America too) .  The term 'from the editorial office' then, is very much a figure of speech.
