Managing E&M
We are also looking for new team members to help deal with the managerial side of things. In particular, we want to start getting the word out about E&M to a much larger audience via more effective use of social media. You will be responsible for:
- Organising the magazine (e.g. running editorial Skype conferences and meetings)
- Forging partnerships and networks (e.g. communication and negotiations with partners, participation in meetings and conferences)
- Overseeing funding and spending with regard to the magazine and related projects (e.g. writing funding applications)
- Developing a new communications / social media stragegy
Why E&M?
As part of the E&M team, you'll get to play a leading role in a magazine with 28 published issues, over 4,000 Facebook likes, 100 writers and a Charlemagne youth prize to its name. You'll meet like-minded people from across the continent, gain valuable experience in running an international publication and have the freedom to pursue your own journalistic ideas and ambitions.
What we are looking for
All of our editors and project managers voluntarily commit at least seven hours per week to the project alongside our regular work or education. We would expect the same level of commitment from you. You must be highly motivated and capable of working independently and responsibly for non-financial rewards.
To apply, you must be under 35 years of age and proficient in written and spoken English. Journalistic experience is a definite advantage, as is an affinity with social media. But far more importantly, you must be passionate about transnationalism and about Europe in the broadest sense: E&M is a labour of love!
How to apply
To apply to E&M as an editor or project manager, go to www.europeandme.eu/application and fill out our online application form. Don't forget to mention in your application which role you'd be most interested in. The deadline is 10 June 2015, and we expect to conduct interviews the following week.
